Prayer: Don’t Keep It In A Box (Trinity Sunday) (Audio)

Sunday May 26, 2024
Prayer is a wonderful and amazing privilege given to us by God. Just think of it. The almighty creator and Lord of the universe invites us to talk with him. How good is that! But too many Christians are inclined to keep prayer in a box. Prayer is so often confined to formal public worship times, structured prayer meetings, family devotion time, the beginning and end of church meetings, devotion time or bedtime. But prayer offers so many more possibilities. In next Sunday’s worship time Chris Jaensch will be inviting us to pull prayer out of the confining box we too often put it in, remind us of the flexibility of prayer and highlight its many exciting possibilities. Woven through the service Chris will be including a number of his own songs and the Bible passages that inspired them.

The Church Empowered For Mission (Video)

Sunday May 19, 2024
At Pentecost, the Spirit enables all believers – not just the apostles but all the followers of Jesus – to speak in other languages so that the crowd could “hear them speaking in our own language about the great things that God has done! (verse 11).” Having gotten their attention by this miracle (signs and wonders are not merely for our entertainment/enjoyment/encouragement but are
a means to an end: to actively promote the Kingdom of God!), Peter is empowered by the Holy
Spirit to preach the message of salvation through faith in Christ. The result being that around 3000 people came to faith in Jesus! With
so many people converted at once, little wonder there was a focus on listening to the apostles’ teaching along with fellowship and worship together. All this was empowered by the Holy Spirit and played an important part in the on-going growth of the Kingdom.
Pastor Richard Haar
Bible Readings: Acts 2: 1-42 (Good News Bible)

Thank you, Lord, for my Mum!
As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we also need to focus on what the Bible says more than concentrate on the emotions surrounding this day. As Easter people we can choose to love, forgive, serve, honour and obey (both as children and as parents), for we live in the power of Jesus’ resurrection!

An audio message from Pastor David Christian.
In John 15 Jesus says I am the Vine. He calls us to remain in the vine so that we can bear the fruit that comes from Jesus, the vine. Some of the fruit listed in this chapter are love and joy. Jesus says it is MY love and MY joy that he wants to give us when we remain in him. We need this fruit, and the troubled world needs it even more. This fruit is to be lasting fruit. This fruit grows when we keep up a life-giving friendship with Jesus, and it leads to us flourishing in a prayerful relationship with Jesus. God bless us today as we hear his Word, and the Holy Spirit grows this fruit in us and blesses the world through us.
