Once again Father’s Day is with us.
How fascinating it would be to exchange our different memories about our dads. There would be plenty of interesting stories to tell and feelings to share.
Think about your Dad? What is, or was, he like? How would you describe him? How does he, or did he treat you? Would you describe him as warm, friendly, and loving or perhaps more distant and uncaring? Always available and approachable or perhaps difficult to deal with?
On Sunday we will be delving into the amazing heart of God, our heavenly Father but at one and the same time the Father of Jesus. Have you ever thought about the possibility that He may have had divided loyalties? Consider this for a moment. Could you as a parent, a dad or mum, who loves your child, if he or she were in a desperate situation, ever knowingly and willingly abandon them, turn you back on them? I’m sure you would answer with a resounding ‘No!”
And yet, as Jesus suffered that brutal and terrible suffering on the cross it seems that God, the loving Father of Jesus, did just that. “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” was Jesus’ lonely cry.
What exactly was going on there on Calvary on Good Friday?
Come along on Sunday as we explore this question and reveal the wonderful but also heart-rending decision God chose to make on our behalf.

With Australia becoming more multicultural – 30% born overseas, 50% have a parent born overseas – there are many from all over the world looking for the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Thankfully the Holy Spirit is with us to empower and guide us to be Jesus’ witnesses. Witnesses to the hope of Jesus Christ.
Messages of Hope continues to reach out to millions of people in Australia and New Zealand on more than a thousand radio stations including 1079 Life, SEN, FlowFM, and many other commercial and community radio stations. People are being inspired with this hope on Messages of Hope social media too. There are videos, podcasts, and booklets and much more available for you and people you care about at messagesofhope.org.au.

There are Many names for Jesus in the Bible – Saviour; Good Shepherd; Messiah; Immanuel to name a few.
In the text for today’s sermon St Paul talks of Jesus as ‘God’s Yes’.
When you think about that, it is really one of the most beautiful ways to describe Jesus, because “yes” implies action and involvement.
“Yes” implies commitment, God’s commitment to, and for us.

A message from Pastor Peter Steicke.
Transitions can be challenging. Change often is. The most challenging transitions are those that may involve a mindset shift, an expansion in our thinking, or facing the opportunity to step out when we’d rather draw back. Peter may have eventually sunk after he walked on water, but at least he stepped out.
How comforting for the early believers — and us — to look back on this and know that not only is Jesus with us in the storm, but when we step out, he’s standing there right beside us, reaching down, and restoring us all. It’s emboldening to realise what you can face when you know Jesus is there with you.

Have you ever caught yourself measuring your level of faith, how strongly you believe in God. Perhaps you compared yourself to someone else whom you held in high regard as an example of strong Christian faith. Maybe at this stage you thought and prayed ‘Lord increase my faith’. Jesus’ disciples asked the same thing of him in the reading in Luke’s gospel. But did they have it right, were they asking the right thing, did they have the right faith focus?

A message by Pastor Wayne Kerber.
Do you reckon God answers prayer? You bet he does, because He wants to be involved in our lives and grow us as His disciples every day.
To grow our lives as a follower of Jesus, we are to rely on Holy Spirit to lead us. This means our lives are to be a daily Spirit-controlled and Spirit-led life.
I reckon the best example of the Spirit–controlled Spirit-led human being who prayed in the Spirit is Jesus. He prayed without ceasing - it was his custom. We don't always know how to pray, but it's wonderful to know that in these times, Holy Spirit comes to our aid by interceding for us.
Isn’t it great to know we have someone praying for us all the time? Jesus prays for us in heaven, and Holy Spirit intercedes for us here on earth. What a caring and gracious God we have praying for and living in us!
